ONE CHURCH MISSION

"For my research I've been all over the U.S., disguised as a homeless man.  This mission is the most humane place I've been in." -Harvard Student

"Words cannot explain how much we love and appreciate you.  Having Jesus' unconditional love for us has really changed our lives. We spent 10 years on the streets until we were referred to you.  We were tired and wanted to give up, but ya'll helped us.  At the mission, we learned about God and gained the tools and knowledge we desperately needed to change.  We are now off the streets and have our own place and on our way to owning our own home." -D.M., Formerly homeless

MEETING THE SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY...

Providing the amenities of home to the homeless and poor in downtown Montgomery, One Church Mission is our largest ministry, requiring the greatest amount of resources, physically and financially.  We freely serve about 100 people daily.   We’ve been operating in a temporary location for the past few years, longing to be in our permanent facility, which is under development.  This ministry building is so vital to the homeless and poor for so many reasons.  We learned in our early years that there are many limitations to people moving forward in life...  They don’t feel adequate to look for employment without a shower, groomed hair, and clean clothes.  Their mental health is negatively affected by lack of nutrition and past trauma.  Reading and technological illiteracy is a hindrance to everything.  A safe and loving environment with water, toilets, heating, and air conditioning give our guests a sense of home and stability, amidst much uncertainty in their lives.  Since approximately half of the homeless grew up as orphans, being surrounded throughout the day in a home environment with people who genuinely care about them, that will help them in anyway possible, gives them hope for the future.  And finally we learned that there is much adversity in helping the homeless and poor; that economic injustice is huge and systematic.

"For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to the poor, and to thy needy, in thy land." –Deuteronomy 15:11
